The Department was established in 1983 (as a Pedagogical Department of Kindergarten Teachers) with the aim of developing research in the Sciences of Education and Teaching and providing university education to preschool teachers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, since its establishment until today, the Department of Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education (DESECE) of the University of Patras has developed into an institution in which all these sciences are cultivated both at the level of teaching and research, which are internationally designated as Education Sciences. Moreover, the mission of the Department of Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education (DESECE) was and remains until now the training of modern educators for preschool education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-container-core-column-is-layout-e3d1c41b wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>However, the huge changes that are taking place in the educational systems both internationally and in our country, the many years of experience of our operation, the expansion and multiplicity of our research searches and directions, and the various social and educational expectations invested in the Pedagogical Departments have, in fact, lead our Department to the formation of a physiognomy of a modern Department of Sciences and Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scientists from many different fields, teach and conduct research in a wide range of scientific topics, trying to lead the students of the Department, on the one hand, to the formation of an integrated scientific identity within the traditions of Humanities and Social Sciences and, on the other hand, to creating an identity of a modern teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-d0bbbce0 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-container-core-column-is-layout-e3d1c41b wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The Department offers a two-year, tuition-free Programme of Postgraduate Studies.
